Drafting got cheap. The editing is what you are buying

Content edited by someone willing to delete it

Search-led writing where the angle is decided before anyone drafts, a named editor rewrites enough of it to stand behind it, and a topic that says nothing new does not get written.

How a Content Marketing engagement is run

How we work

Why teams bring us in for Content Marketing

A draft costs almost nothing to produce now, which has quietly made drafting the least valuable part of this service. What you are actually buying is the deciding beforehand and the editing afterwards — so those are the parts these terms are about.

Where a model is used, and where it is not
Research and first drafts, yes — refusing to would just make us slower. The angle, the argument and every factual claim are a person’s, and nothing publishes without a named editor having rewritten enough of it to stand behind it.
What has to be true before we brief
That the piece says something the current top ten do not. If we cannot find that, we will tell you the topic is not worth writing rather than produce the eleventh version of it.
Who edits
Our head of content, on every piece. Editing is the part that is usually quietly dropped when volume goes up, and it is the only part that decides whether any of it was worth publishing. Who that is
Who approves, and when
Agreed in week three, before anything is drafted. The single most common way a programme dies is discovering in month two that the only person qualified to sign a draft off never agreed to.
What happens to work already published
It gets refreshed. Existing pieces that once ranked are almost always cheaper to recover than new ones are to launch, so a programme that only ever adds is leaving the easiest wins alone.
What it costs
Published, not quoted on request. A content and topical-authority audit from $1,000; ongoing programmes from $2,500 a month. Full pricing
The part you are actually buying

Anyone can produce a draft now so here is what happens to one

Writing stopped being the expensive part some time ago, which makes “high-quality content” a phrase that no longer separates anybody from anybody. Three sentences that arrived in drafts, and what happened to each of them.

  1. True of anyone

Our team of experts leverages cutting-edge strategies to deliver outstanding results for our clients.

    Nothing. The sentence was deleted.

Cut, not rewritten. Put a competitor’s name at the front and the sentence is still true — which means it was never about you, and no amount of editing makes it so.

  2. Unsourced

Studies show that 70% of buyers research online before they make a purchase.

Your buyers are reading something before they call you. Whether any of it is yours is the question this page has to answer.

A statistic with no source invites the reader to go and check, and they will. Losing the number costs nothing here — the sentence was never doing work the claim could not do without it.

  3. Hedged

There are many factors that can affect your website’s performance.

Three things decide it: what you send to the browser, when you send it, and how much of it has to run before the page will respond.

“Many factors” is what a draft says when the writer does not know which ones. The edit is not a style improvement — it is the point at which somebody had to go and find out.

This is the whole service, honestly described: deciding what a piece has to say before anyone writes it, and being willing to delete the parts that turned out to say nothing. You can check whether we hold ourselves to it — every claim on this page either links to something you can read or is a commitment you could hold us to. What we publish

The real bottleneck

Content dies in approval not in drafting

Programmes rarely stall because nobody can write. They stall because the one person qualified to approve a draft has a day job, and every vertical has a different version of that person.

By vertical

Where the competitive picture is the thing we already know.

  • Health and medical

A clinician has to review it, and clinicians see patients. Nothing publishes faster than their calendar allows — so the workflow is built around that rather than around a content calendar.

  • Legal

A partner signs off, and every hour they spend reading a draft is an hour not billed. The only way through is drafts that need editing rather than rewriting.

  • iGaming

Compliance reviews every claim, every bonus term and every jurisdiction line. A draft written without knowing those rules comes back in pieces.

  • Managed IT and MSP

Your engineers are the reviewers and they will spot a wrong detail in the first paragraph. Getting technical content past them is the whole difficulty, and it is also what makes it good.

  • Real estate

Almost nothing stays true for a year. The approval problem here is not who signs it but how fast it goes stale after they do.

  • Hospitality

Everything has to be written six months before anyone will read it, and approved by someone who is dealing with this season rather than next.

How it runs

Most of this happens before anything is written

Drafting is no longer the expensive part, and pretending otherwise is why so much published content says nothing. The work that decides whether a piece is worth anything is the deciding beforehand and the editing afterwards — which is what these eight stages are mostly made of.

What happens at each stage
  1. Week 1What you already rank for, and what decays
  2. Week 2Read the ten results you would join
  3. Weeks 2–3Find what none of them says
  4. Weeks 3–4Who signs it off, agreed up front
  5. Week 4Briefed with the angle, not the keyword
  6. Months 2–4Drafted, then genuinely edited
  7. Months 2–5Published and internally linked
  8. Months 4–9Refreshed before it decays
01Why clusters beat a pile of blog posts
Topical Authority

Why clusters beat a pile of blog posts

Google does not reward volume — it rewards demonstrable depth on a topic. A hub-and-spoke cluster, where a pillar page is supported by tightly-linked articles that each answer a facet of the topic, signals coverage no single long post can. This is why 12 connected pieces routinely out-rank 40 orphaned ones, and why we plan the graph before we brief a single writer.

  • Pillar pages target broad head terms, spokes target long-tail intent
  • Internal links pass authority up to the pages you most want to rank
  • Complete coverage wins featured snippets and AI citations
  • New pieces slot into an existing structure instead of standing alone
02Content is an asset, not an ad spend
Compounding Returns

Content is an asset, not an ad spend

A paid ad stops the day you stop paying; a ranked article keeps earning sessions, links and conversions for years. That is the honest case for content — the ROI is slow to start and then compounds, which is exactly why measuring only the first 90 days misleads you. We track the curve: leading indicators early, then assisted conversions and pipeline as the library matures.

  • Published assets earn traffic long after the invoice clears
  • Refreshing winners costs a fraction of writing new pieces
  • Each new cluster lifts the ones already ranking
  • Reporting ties rankings to assisted conversions, not vanity traffic

Whether more content is the answer or the problem

Plenty of sites already publish too much. These are the words a content plan will use without defining them, and the trade-offs behind where the budget should go.

FAQs

Questions buyers ask before signing

Quick answers to the things buyers always check first.

How is content marketing priced?
A one-time content and keyword audit is $1,000 and maps your highest-opportunity topics with a 90-day editorial roadmap. Growth retainers start at $2,500/month and cover 8–16 SEO articles or equivalent copy per month, plus email sequences and full editorial QA. Full-funnel programs including outbound copy and multilingual translation start at $5,000/month.
How long before content drives organic traffic?
Email and outbound copy can produce replies and conversions within the first few weeks. SEO articles typically begin ranking and pulling organic traffic within 3–5 months as search engines process and index the new material, then compound steadily. Your 90-day roadmap front-loads the topics with the fastest realistic path to results.
Who writes the content — seniors or junior writers?
Senior writers and editors with your vertical on their CV write every piece. We do not hand briefs to a pool of generalist freelancers. Each article goes through an editorial review against the keyword brief, the search-intent teardown and your brand voice guide before it reaches your inbox. Content mills produce volume; we produce rankings.
What is included in a monthly content retainer?
A senior-led editorial calendar, 8–16 SEO articles or equivalent copywriting assets, email sequences, full editing, fact-checking and internal linking as part of each publish. You also get a shared live dashboard tracking rankings and organic traffic by article, plus a weekly Loom from your strategist. Outbound campaign copy and translation are included at the Dominance tier.
Do you handle CMS publishing, or do we do that ourselves?
Both routes work. Most clients want us to handle research, writing, on-page SEO and CMS publishing end-to-end, including image alt text, schema and internal links. If you have an internal editorial team, we ship fully formatted briefs with an outline and SERP teardown, and you take it from there. We can also QA and optimize pieces your team produces.
How do you decide what topics to write about?
We start with a keyword and content gap audit against your three closest organic competitors. Topics are scored by search volume, ranking difficulty, commercial intent and how closely they map to your buyer journey. High-intent, lower-competition terms are front-loaded; pillar pages that build topical authority come next. The roadmap is shared and approved before any writing starts.
Do you write for AI search (ChatGPT, Perplexity, AI Overviews) as well as Google?
Every brief we build includes passage-level citability signals — clear factual statements, cited data, structured headers and FAQ markup — that make your content attractive as an AI answer source. We treat GEO/AEO as part of the editorial standard rather than a separate line item, so the same content serves the classic SERP and the AI answer panel.
How do you measure content performance and prove return?
We tie the retainer to KPIs you approve up front — usually organic traffic, keyword rankings and, where trackable, leads or revenue attributed to content. These are visible on your shared dashboard in real time, not buried in a monthly PDF. Pieces that rank and convert get expanded; pieces that underperform get refreshed or redirected before they age into doorway content.
What do we own at the end of the engagement?
All of the content, the briefs, the keyword research and the editorial calendar. Every article we publish lives on your domain in your CMS. There is no content hosted on our platform that you lose access to. If the engagement ends, you keep every asset exactly as published and can continue managing it internally.
Do you offer translation and multilingual content?
Yes. Translation and localization are available as part of the Dominance tier or as a standalone add-on. We use native-speaker translators who also understand the SEO requirements — hreflang tags, local keyword variants and cultural adaptation — not machine translation corrected by a non-native editor. Multilingual content is treated as new content for ranking purposes, not a copy of the English original.
What industries do you have content playbooks for?
iGaming, legal, health and medical, financial services, real estate, SaaS, hospitality and home services. Regulated and YMYL verticals need writers who understand what claims are safe to make and which content signals Google rewards. Our playbooks prevent the E-E-A-T mistakes that cause medical and legal content to deindex or trigger manual reviews.
